June 25, 2020 — This analysis examines the similarities and differences between Canada’s COVID-19 (coronavirus disease) pandemic experience in long-term care and that of other Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) countries. The data was collected as of May 25, 2020, from various international and national sources, including surveillance systems, country websites, the World Health Organization and the OECD.
The analysis focuses on 3 areas:
- COVID-19 cases and deaths in long-term care
- Baseline health system characteristics
- Policy responses to address the pandemic
