Pilot testing opportunities

Back to CIHI’s SNOMED CT CA to classifications maps

CIHI is looking for participants to test our maps in an electronic health record (EHR) or electronic medical record (EMR) solution and provide feedback on their functionality.

SNOMED CT CA to ICD-10-CA maps

The SNOMED CT CA (the Canadian edition of the Systematized Nomenclature of Medicine — Clinical Terms) to ICD-10-CA (International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems, 10th Revision, Canada) maps support semi-automated data collection for

  • Acute care
  • Ambulatory care
  • Clinics

The maps may also be used to develop subsets to support specialty areas such as

  • Colonoscopy clinics
  • Cataract clinics
  • Rehabilitation

We would be happy to work with you to determine what would meet your data collection needs.

Resources to support implementation of the SNOMED CT CA to ICD-10-CA maps and guidance on how to use the maps can be found under Resource materials.

Pan-Canadian Health Concern Value Set

The Pan-Canadian Health Concern Value Set (PHCVS) is ready for testing in an EMR solution. These automated maps can be implemented into vendor solutions where SNOMED CT is used at the point of care to capture a health concern problem list. The maps support direct submission of data to CIHI using ICD-10-CA and meet physician billing requirements with maps to ICD-9.

To support implementation of the PHCVS, we have developed an implementation guide for vendors.

The maps also support data collection for facilities that wish to use the maps in an emergency department setting. In addition, the clinical terms are mapped directly to the Canadian Emergency Department Diagnosis Shortlist (CED-DxS) for submission to CIHI.
