  • Doctors: In 2017, there were 86,644 physicians in Canada, representing 234 physicians per 100,000 population.
  • Dollars: Total gross clinical payments to physicians reached $26.4 billion in 2016–2017, a 2.8% increase over the previous year.
  • Demographics: The proportion of female physicians in the workforce continued to rise in 2017.
