The COVID-19 pandemic caused more disruption in Canadians’ lives than we ever thought possible. It gave us a good look at Canada’s health systems: at what’s working, and what’s not

This shared experience accelerated change and altered perceptions of everything from virtual care to health equity.

But there’s lots more work to do and we want to continue delivering in the years ahead.

That means maintaining strong relationships with the people who rely on our data and listening to their needs—your needs.

It also means being a leader in producing quality health data at a time when misinformation spreads with the click of a mouse.

With that in mind, we’ve created a 5-year strategic plan with three goals: 

NUPUR  

First, a comprehensive and integrated approach to Canada’s health system data,  

ANNE-MARIE (FR)  

Second, an expanded offering of analytics, indicators and tools to support health system decision-making

And third, health information users who are better equipped and enabled to do their jobs

We’re going to focus on the issues that you’re focused on too: things like Health workforce, Mental health and substance use, Seniors and aging, public health and Virtual care.

It’s an ambitious plan, but we love a good challenge.

And in creating it, we took never lost sight of our values: inclusion, integrity, collaboration, excellence, and innovation.

Bringing value to health systems through data and evidence is at the heart of what CIHI does, because we know that your wellbeing depends on it.

While we weren’t on the front lines during the pandemic, we were with you every step of the way. And as you recover and rebuild, we’ll be there for you, too.

Our strategic plan is new, but our core purpose is the same: Better Data, Better Decisions, Healthier Canadians.
