Bio
As director of Western Canada and Local Analytics, Steve Atkinson leads a team that provides custom analytics and support to ministries and health regions throughout Canada, with a focus on establishing a holistic understanding of population health, health system use and health system performance at a local level. Mr. Atkinson’s interests include leveraging data to inform health system strategies that improve the long-term sustainability of Canada’s health systems. He joined CIHI in 2015 following 14 years with Island Health in British Columbia, where he held successive analytic leadership roles in the planning portfolio. Mr. Atkinson holds a Master of Public Administration from the University of Victoria.
