Bio
As VP and CIO, Nasir Kenea provides strategic leadership and direction for information technology and services, in alignment with CIHI’s business priorities. He also oversees the planning, development and operation of these services.
Dr. Kenea has more than 25 years of experience with information technology and services, primarily in the public sector. He was a CIO at the City of Markham for 14 years where he led the development of multi-year digital strategies and business transformations, including smart cities initiatives that earned recognition. In his recent role as the VP of IT services at George Brown College, he led the development of an enterprise digital roadmap and cyber security program. In these roles, Dr. Kenea was also accountable for IT operations and services, as well as for project delivery practices.
Dr. Kenea has a Bachelor of Science from Addis Ababa University (Ethiopia), a Master of Science from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee (India) and a PhD from Free University of Berlin (Germany).
