Ontario Mental Health Reporting System (OMHRS) Specification/Standard Changes for 2023–2024

The Ontario Mental Health Reporting System (OMHRS) will have the following specification/standard changes for 2023–2024: 

  • Updates to the OMHRS Resource Manual 

    • Changing DSM-5 to DSM-5-TR 

    • Updates to the DSM-5-TR codes can be found on the American Psychiatric Association’s website. We will provide a notice of which updates will be implemented for 2023–2024 in spring 2023. 

Important dates 

April 1, 2023
  • OMHRS Resource Manual, 2022–2023, OMHRS I11 Medical Diagnosis Quick Reference Code Guide and CIHI Language Codes are available through CIHI’s eStore
  • OMHRS 2022–2023 specifications go into effect
June 1,2023
  • OMHRS ready to receive 2023–2024 data 
  • The Facility Profile Record must be reviewed, updated with changes and successfully submitted before any other submissions will be accepted 
  • Facility test environment available 

Facility testing requirements for 2023–2024 

Facility testing is optional, but it is recommended for facilities that 

  • Are preparing for data submission to CIHI for the first time 

  • Have recently changed software vendors 

  • Have had staff turnover or changes to practices for completing assessments to ensure the processes are understood and their system is performing as expected 

The facility test environment will be available June 1, 2023. The submission results from optional facility testing are not monitored by CIHI, but if you need assistance troubleshooting any submission errors, please contact us at specializedcare@cihi.ca.
