Urgent/emergent request for changes to ICD-10-CA: Public submission form
In September 2024, CIHI communicated to stakeholders that ICD-10-CA will be frozen in its 2022 version to align with the World Health Organization (WHO), which stopped updating ICD-10 in 2019. This will enable us to devote resources to assessing the readiness of ICD-11 for implementation in Canada.
To remain responsive to urgent or emergent health information needs, CIHI has made available U50–U99 Provisional codes for research and temporary assignment in Canada. These codes are to be used only at the direction of CIHI until the adoption of ICD-11 in Canada.
The public submission requests for ICD-10-CA are restricted to urgent/emergent requests.
- Complete the ICD-10-CA urgent/emergent public submission request form below if you can provide evidence that your request meets at least one of the following criteria for urgent/emergent data requirements:
- Current Canadian urgent health concern
