2011–2012 HMHDB Data Now Available
The Mental Health and Addictions program at the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI) is pleased to announce that inpatient hospital mental health services data from the Hospital Mental Health Database (HMHDB) is now available for 2011–2012.
The HMHDB is a pan-Canadian database that includes medical diagnosis and demographic data for general hospital separations with a primary diagnosis of mental illness and for psychiatric hospital separations. Data may be of particular value to researchers, health care facilities, regional health authorities, ministries of health and others for exploring areas such as client characteristics and resource utilization.
To learn more about inpatient hospital services use among individuals diagnosed with a mental illness at the health region, province and pan-Canadian levels, access CIHI’s Quick Stats. You will find information on indicators such as
Separation volumes and rates for inpatient mental health;
Hospital days stayed for inpatient mental health; and
30-day/1-year rehospitalization rates for selected disorders.
Information on making customized data requests can be accessed here. Please send any questions or comments about the HMHDB to the Mental Health and Addictions program area via email, at firstname.lastname@example.org, or visit the HMHDB web page.
