The World Health Organization (WHO) is the official publisher of the Tenth Revision of the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems (ICD-10) and holds the international copyright. The WHO has granted the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI) the licence to enhance the ICD-10 classification to meet Canadian needs for the collection of morbidity data. This Canadian modification, ICD-10-CA, is a variable-axis classification that uses an alphanumeric code. The Canadian Classification of Health Interventions (CCI) was developed and is maintained solely by CIHI. CCI is a multi-axial and hierarchical classification that uses an alphanumeric code. Both ICD-10-CA and CCI are owned and copyrighted by CIHI in English and in French.
CIHI is making ICD-10-CA/CCI available on a read-only basis for non-commercial use related to the Canadian healthcare system. ICD-10-CA/CCI cannot be reproduced by others in whole or in part for any purpose. For greater certainty and without limiting the generality of the above statement, you cannot modify, repurpose, copy, distribute, sell, or otherwise share ICD-10-CA/CCI, and you cannot embed ICD-10-CA/CCI into software or create derivative works of ICD-10-CA/CCI. You can only view ICD-10-CA/CCI for personal or internal use. In addition, you cannot reverse engineer or apply any other process or procedure to derive the source code of the ICD-10-CA/CCI files, and you cannot attempt to defeat, avoid, bypass, remove, deactivate or otherwise circumvent any mechanism used to restrict or control the security and functionality of the ICD-10-CA/CCI files.
