According to the 2005 NSWHN,1 regulated nurses were absent from work for health-related reasons an average of 14.5 days in the year before they were surveyed. This analysis is the first of a series of analysis on absenteeism which will begin to identify whether any differences in absenteeism rates exist among the regulated nursing professions, by demographic and work characteristics. It also compares absenteeism rates for regulated nurses with those of the Canadian workforce.
