Zoom in on... the 2005 National Survey of the Work and Health of Nurses (NSHWN)

Publication date: Fabruary 29, 2008

This second analysis on absenteeism from the 2005 NSWHN examines the association between dissatisfaction, the work environment and absenteeism. It was found that nurses who reported low satisfaction or a lack of respect in the workplace, or who had lower nursing work index scores, also reported some of the highest rates of absenteeism.

The work environment indicators investigated in this analysis include the nursing work index and respect in the workplace, as defined in the NSWHN.
