How satisfied are nurses with being a nurse and with their current job?

Publication date: May 9, 2008

The 2005 NSHWN asked questions on satisfaction, work environment and health. In this opportunity to "zoom in on" satisfaction we provide an overview of several work environment factors that contribute to a nurse’s level of satisfaction. These factors include resourcing, support, leadership, autonomy and teamwork.

Overall results

According to the results from the survey, overall, 90% of nurses are very satisfied or somewhat satisfied with being a nurse and 88% are very satisfied or somewhat satisfied with their current job (Figure 1).
