How Canada Compares: Impact of COVID-19 on seniors’ access to care

More Canadian seniors (71%) reported having any virtual appointments (over the telephone or through video) with a doctor or other health care professional in the past 12 months, compared with the Commonwealth Fund average* (39%).

More Canadian seniors (29%) reported having an appointment with a doctor or other health care professional cancelled or postponed due to COVID-19 in the past 12 months, compared with the Commonwealth Fund average* (19%).

* The Commonwealth Fund surveyed older adults age 65 and older in 11 countries through its 2021 International Health Policy Survey between March and June 2021.
