The Canadian Patient Experiences Reporting System (CPERS) provides standardized patient experience information from across Canada. It helps us better understand and compare patient perspectives on the health services received to inform and improve patient-centred care and patient outcomes.
As of April 2015, CPERS is ready to receive data about patient experiences in acute care inpatient hospital stays from the Canadian Patient Experiences Survey — Inpatient Care (CPES-IC).
CPERS will be populated with CPES-IC data from acute care inpatient hospitals across Canada.
CIHI is collaborating with participating jurisdictions to support CPES-IC implementation and data submission to CPERS.
The CPES-IC Procedure Manual provides details on the target patient population and inclusion criteria for the survey.
CPERS has been ready to receive data since April 2015.
Data is collected according to the CPES-IC Minimum Data Set and supporting materials, such as the CPES-IC Procedures Manual and service line definitions.
- Patient responses to the CPES-IC questions
- Information on the survey methods and processes used to administer the survey
- Administrative information needed to support submissions, analysis and reporting
Information will be collected on patients from 3 hospital service lines: medical, surgical and maternity.
