Anne McFarlane
Vice President, Western Canada and Development Initiatives

Anne McFarlane serves as Vice President, Western Canada and Development Initiatives. Anne works extensively with the other regional offices and departments within CIHI to improve our responsiveness to client needs and our ability to plan and promote uptake of new systems and programs. This work includes the development of common approaches and tools to facilitate stakeholder adoption of our products and services.

Previously, Anne held the position of Executive Director, Western Canada, for more than five years. During that time, she established the Western office—CIHI’s first regional bureau—and built a team focused on ensuring that the organization’s products and services meet the needs of the health systems in Western Canada and the territories.

Along with a master of science in community health and epidemiology, Ms. McFarlane has more than 20 years of experience in the health and social service sectors. She has held senior management roles at both the British Columbia Ministry of Health Services and the Health Services Utilization and Research Commission of Saskatchewan, and advisory roles at the Institute of Health Services and Policy Research (Canadian Institutes of Health Research) and at the Canadian Cochrane Centre.
