Bio

Dr. Maureen O’Donnell is 1 of 2 members representing British Columbia (Region 1) on CIHI’s Board of Directors  Dr. O’Donnell is a subspecialist pediatrician who is a member of the academic Department of Pediatrics at UBC in the role of Associate Professor. Within her primary current role, as Executive Vice President, Provincial Clinical Policy, Planning and Partenerships at Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA), she is responsible for population and public health including the BCCDC and Public Health Observatory; a number of signification chronic disease portfolios including the provincial renal program, Cardiac Services BC, Trans Care BC, Trauma Services BC, Child Health BC, Perinatal BC, Stroke Services BC; and numerous other substantial provincial health programs and health improvement networks. She is also responsible for virtual health as well as overarching data analytics for PHSA as a whole. Dr. O’Donnell has responsibilty for data governance related to the above areas as well as analytics.

As both a clinical provider and an executive with a range of responsibilities, she sees data and work with national and provincial entities as critical to improving data and analysis from both a strategic and practical operational perspective as well as with respect to research and innovation.
