Scanning Product Barcodes for the Canadian Joint Replacement Registry

Printer-friendly version

April 2016

This bulletin outlines the steps for capturing implant and cement information from product stickers using barcode scanners. Because product stickers are not standardized across and even within manufacturers, providers must take care to ensure that the correct barcode is scanned and that information appears in the appropriate CJRR data field (that is, Product Number versus Lot Number). All samples of product stickers provided in this bulletin are fictitious yet resemble actual product stickers from a variety of manufacturers.
