As highlighted in previous communications, the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI) will release updated results for a number of indicators reported in the Your Health System and Health Indicators e-Publication web tools on May 26 at 12 noon ET. To help you prepare for this release, an embargo period will begin on May 11.
The Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI) released the upgraded eQuery tool in August 2015. Since then, CIHI has received client feedback about eQuery, and we have been working to update the tool in response to what we’ve heard. This bulletin outlines the changes that were implemented on April 14, 2016.
This bulletin outlines the steps for capturing implant and cement information from product stickers using barcode scanners. Because product stickers are not standardized across and even within manufacturers, providers must take care to ensure that the correct barcode is scanned and that information appears in the appropriate CJRR data field (that is, Product Number versus Lot Number). All samples of product stickers provided in this bulletin are fictitious yet resemble actual product stickers from a variety of manufacturers.
This bulletin outlines the facility-testing process for the Canadian Joint Replacement Registry (CJRR) for 2016–2017. In order to facilitate the submission process and enhance data quality, all participating facilities are required to provide annual test data to the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI) in advance of live submissions to most CIHI databases. Facility testing occurs once a facility’s licensed vendor has successfully submitted test data. Facilities are also required to submit data for retesting when there is a change in vendor
The following table provides a complete list of CIHI indicators and contextual measures that will be updated with new data in the Your Health System web tool and Health Indicators e-Publication on May 26, 2016. In addition, the Hospital Deaths (HSMR) indicator will be updated for Quebec with 2014–2015 results and the Canada HSMR result will be recalculated including Quebec data.
The final data submission specifications for the Continuing Care Reporting System (CCRS) have been released to vendors. Vendors may begin their annual mandatory testing of HCRS or HCRS-CA submission files as of March 3, 2016.
