October 31, 2017 — Read these proceedings of the 2017 National Nursing Data Standards Symposium, which focused on the areas of clinical practice, administration, nursing education, research and policy. The symposium’s goal was to continue developing a national strategy to promote the adoption of a core set of standardized nursing data. More than 90 nurse and health data leaders participated, representing most jurisdictions and health care sectors across Canada, as well as selected national health care organizations. The event was hosted by the Canadian Nurses Association, Canada Health Infoway, the Canadian Nursing Informatics Association, the Lawrence S. Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing at the University of Toronto, and CIHI.
