Presenting Complaint List v5.1
The Canadian Emergency Department Information System (CEDIS) Presenting Complaint List (PCL) contains patient complaints commonly seen in the emergency department. It is a standardized list used to capture patient reasons for seeking emergency medical care. The CEDIS PCL is used to capture NACRS Presenting Complaint List (data element 136).
Revisions to PCL v5.1 are included in Table 1. These changes are effective April 1, 2018.
Canadian Emergency Department Diagnosis Shortlist v5.0
1 code has been removed from the Canadian Emergency Department Diagnosis Shortlist (CED-DxS) in v5.0, and the common terms for 2 codes have been modified. The CED-DxS is now a subset of 844 diagnoses derived from more than 17,000 ICD-10-CA codes to capture discharge diagnosis information on emergency department patients in Canada. The CED-DxS is used to capture the ED Discharge Diagnoses (data element 137).
The next version of the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems, 10th Revision, Canada (ICD-10-CA) will be released in early 2018. As a result, the CED-DxS was reviewed to ensure it aligns with version 2018 of ICD-10-CA.
Revisions to the CED-DxS v5.0 are included in Table 2. These changes are effective April 1, 2018.
