Cumulative Hospital Standardized Mortality Ratio

The Cumulative Hospital Standardized Mortality Ratio (eHSMR) Report reflects the HSMR based on the All Cases model. It is available in PDF and tab-delimited ASCII formats.

The report contains monthly and cumulative year-to-date HSMR results for eligible acute care hospitals. This report is one of the standard monthly reports that are generated once data for a reporting period has been submitted to CIHI. A separate report will be produced for each participating hospital.

The report contains information on the following:

• Month

• Number of cases

• Number of deaths

• HSMR

• 95% confidence intervals

• Caution flag (if applicable)

eHSMR results are preliminary and may differ from quarterly results sent by CIHI.
