CIHI’s federal government contribution agreement renewed

CIHI is pleased to announce that our funding agreement with Health Canada has been renewed until March 31, 2015. As part of the federal government’s budget deficit reduction plan, CIHI will see its funding reduced by 5%. This reduction will be implemented gradually, with a 3% reduction in fiscal year 2013–2014 and another 2% reduction in 2014–2015. In addition, CIHI will not receive any funds to account for growing system costs and inflation.

As part of this funding agreement, CIHI has been asked to absorb the costs of developing the Canadian Multiple Sclerosis Monitoring System within our annual operating budget.

Since this agreement represents a significant decrease in funding from previous years and the addition of a new monitoring system, we will be reviewing our products and services to ensure that we focus on those that continue to provide the most value to our customers. To accomplish this, we will be consulting with many of you to ensure we’re meeting your needs and carefully considering your recommendations. We are committed to keeping you informed and will provide further information as it becomes available.

Thank you for your continued interest in our work.
