Mental health and addiction services include a broad array of activities related to promoting the well-being of people living with and recovering from mental illness and addiction. Community mental health services, in particular, are intended to help people in the communities where they live and work through a wide range of programs and providers.

In 2008–2009, CIHI began a multi-faceted, multi-year initiative to explore data and information gaps relating to community mental health and addiction services that includes

  • Identifying opportunities to promote the collection of comparable pan-Canadian community mental health and addiction services information
  • Enhancing the availability of data, information and reports to further inform system-level management of these services
